If you are looking for the first cell phone for your tween or teen, there is no need to get them anything fancy. They don’t need to text, email, pick up voicemail or surf the web. They certainly do not need to play any video games or watch a video. They need to get in touch with key people and dial 911.
My friends over at Green Beans wants to offer the readers of Live Green Mom a deal on an LG Migo for Verizon.
It has four programmable keys and a dedicated 911 emergency button, as well as a battery & a charger. It also has has family locator, an app that allows you to check in on your family members where-abouts at any time. You can find out where they are, when they got there, and when they left. That’s a good one for peace of mind.
Green Beans normally sells it for $49, but you can get it for $39 with the special code LiveGreen. If you want free shipping as well, post a comment here and I will send you the code. Leave a comment and I will send you the code for not only $10 off but free shipping as well!
This offer is good until November 11, 2010.
10% of every sale will be donated to Love146.org. This organization helps to rescue children from slavery and sexual exploitation.
(Note: in the effort of full disclosure, I have received nothing in return for this post - nada, zip, zero. I just really like Green Beans and the way they do business.)
Now, you know that since I’m reviewing my new purse, I had to use that title. There was just no other!
It was an odd thing, I had been searching for a purse that would carry my stuff around, like any other woman. But if you knew me, you’d know that I only started really carrying a purse over the past year. And a tiny one at that! But stuff multiplies in a purse, as we all know. I was looking around in stores, trying to find something that fit my needs but wasn’t plastic looking, too expensive, or made in China. Tall order for a purse these days. I had seen Earth Divas on Twitter and checked out there website, and WOW! I loved their
stuff! And here’s the odd part – not long after, Heather Levin reached out to me and asked me if I wanted to review a bag. Would I?! Yes, please!
Earlier this year I met Go Green Beans on Twitter, and I did a post about getting a recycled battery from them for my Blackberry. I really love the idea behind their business! I wanted you to meet the woman behind Green Beans Rewards and let her tell us what it’s all about.
Today I have the pleasure of having Louise Baker from Zen College Life guest posting today.
The Five Essential Applications for Green Moms
Going green and being environmentally conscious have been all the rage over the past few years. People are finding alternative ways of doing things, such as not driving cars and purchasing organic substances, to better heal the Earth and provide a healthier environment for future generations to come. Moms are also finding the iPhone quite useful in both providing their children with
entertainment as well as an alternative “healthier planet” lifestyle. Here are a few of the top environmental conscious applications available for moms looking to take the green approach.
This application provides a daily notation regarding a specific environmental situation happening in the world. It also sends out alerts and notifications on how you can become greener on a daily basis. Get Green is a superior application choice if you are just getting started in the ways of the environmentally conscious and are looking for suggestions to start your life moving in a healthier way that benefits not only yourself and your family but also the Earth.
This application, brought together by leading “green” associations such as Earth Day Network and the Organic Trade Association, centers on supplying you with organic materials, from healthier food choices to paper products. It has a location finder that assists you in finding local health stores that sell organic items as well as provides coupons for those same stores when they are available. Finally, Go Organic supplies dates for festivals around the country focusing on Earth Day as well as green conscious events throughout the year.
An application focused solely on providing the ever exciting world of comic books on to the iPhone. There is a wide variety of comic books available on the internet today from most of the major companies, such as Marvel and DC, at both iTunes as well as major bookstore websites. While providing entertainment, it also allows for green conscious mothers to help the environment by not being involved with the purchase of paper products that are not made with recycled paper.
This game focuses on providing a ton of fun for grade school children while also educating their young minds on the proper ways to recycle in today’s world. This is just one of the games starting the evolution of games directed towards teaching the younger generation how to take the health of the world seriously.
This application provides a new voiced picture book everyday to allow children to practice reading and learn new concepts at all times during the day. The idea of getting the same educating materials that you would normally get with a book on your iPhone not only provides a step up in convenience but also puts a mother and her family on the path to going greener in today’s society.
I have a Blackberry Curve. I live and die by my Blackberry. I no longer have a land line and I use it constantly, not only to text and make calls but also to manage my rental property, our schedules, and our general day-to-day lives. If you are 20-something, this is your norm, managing your life through your phone. I’m 40, so I’m learning. I have realized that there are some really helpful applications to manage just about everything, and I am good at learning and implementing them. My husband said the best thing he ever did was set me up with the Blackberry & Outlook two years ago. I agree.
