I’ve been fortunate to be in the position to build my own house, and when I say build I mean 80% project manage and 20% get my hands dirty as and when I can. I decided that building in the 21st century meant that I could and should embrace all things sustainable, which includes looking at renewable energy and examining the options.
Last fall I had a chance to try out some Jambu hiking boots - loved them! I was out hiking in them again today. What I enjoy about them is that they are snug on my feet yet work well around my bunions. If you have bunions, you understand why this is an issue. Hiking boots need to be snug but snug footwear around bunions can be painful. My family and I went hiking today, my husband pointed to my feet and said, “Still love your boots?” Yup! Just enough give, yet still a firm fit.
Last week I went to Austin, Texas, to see my sister and her lovely twin boys (almost a year old!) and attend a wedding. My husband Adam’s buddy was getting married and he was the best man. Double the fun!
Thursday night was so much fun, my sister got a sitter, and her husband, Adam and I went out for a big fat delicious dinner of Mexican food at Trudy’s. We were talking about our kids and how, now that we are parents, awful news stories about children jump out at us. My sister finally had to stop herself from reading these stories, too upsetting. Now that we have kids, we are so much more vulnerable. These stories are reminders that something bad can happen to anyone at anytime, including ourselves. We finally had to change the subject. Downer dinner talk!
