  1. Your story about your daughter struck home. We’ve had similar – but not as bad – food intolerance issues with my partner, son & me & with a few friends, one of whom required 2 months hospitalisation. All share a British ancestry that tends to raise risk of food intolerances which can be triggered by food/ disease/ environmental issues. Husband’s recurring colitis is under control with low wheat & dairy diet. Unlike coeliacs, food sensitivity or intolerance doesn’t show up on allergy tests but is still real. Pain after eating a bagel sounds like a wheat trigger. Son is dairy intolerant but OK with wheat while on mixed diet. I had IBS after a fat & oil free diet damaged my intestine. I repaired my intestine by taking 1 tbs cold pressed flax seed oil per day (fish oil may also work) and going on low trigger diet for leaky gut. Over six weeks my gut wall repaired and I’m now mostly normal.

Probiotics to replenish gut biota OK in theory but probably not enough to repair damage done by antibiotics. Antibiotic consumption worst thing out for damaged intestine once disease risk past. Better to switch to crushed garlic in warm lemon & honey – or even just warm manuka honey with lemon drinks. Get your daughter to see a reputable naturopath for a suitable diet to balance system. I have a BSc(Honours) so I’m not anti science, bt some doctors overdo antibiotics and anyone would tell you antibiotics play havoc with a person’s digestive system.

Screaming pain and bloating is an extreme response to wind – or flatulence – and is like many babies reactions to wind/ colic. Some children who were bottlefed are more susceptible to digestive upset. My son was partially bottlefed & had antibiotics for infant infection so we knew to watch out for this issue.

    Best wishes
    Kay

  2. Wanted to let you know the ReSnackIt Bags are much cheaper (about half as much) than $20 each on their website. The shipping is under $4 right now. They also carry them on Amazon.

    1. That’s GREAT to know, thanks for the heads up!

  3. Hi Helga,

Thanks for the info on Belly Boost probiotics. I was waiting to buy this and the coupon for 60% is something I can’t miss! Can you send me your first and last name so I can put it under referral? I believe you get a free bottle of probiotics.

    Thanks,

    Jenille

    1. Thanks, Jen, I just emailed you! :)

  4. Thank you so much for your deodorant article!….having recently purchased Natures Gate deodorant with much dissappointment. I am eager to try your recipe. How is the recipe comparable to the effectiveness of most deodorants toxic counter parts? Does it really help stay dry and odor free all day? In your research, were there any concerns over long term baking soda adverse health effects?
    Thank you so much,
    eager to hear back
