I only recently discovered Nordstrom when they built one near me a few years ago. I had to get clothes for work last year, and I went in clueless about what to buy. As a mom that had been out of the workplace for almost 10 years, what did I know? The sales staff was helpful, patient and not pushy. I needed that!

Full price items are eligible for free alterations. The seamstress was buzzing around the clothing sections so there was no waiting or having to come back to get measured. Even the sale items could be altered for a small fee.  When I got my altered items home, tried them on, and showed my husband, we both thought that a couple of pieces were not ‘me’. Worried that I wouldn’t be able to return altered women’s wear, I tentatively showed up with my receipt and the clothes.  They took them back with a smile, reassuring me that everything is returnable at Nordstrom.

What?! Really?

The clerk told me that the most famous story of a Nordstrom return was a man in Alaska returning tires he bought. Nordstrom took them back.

And they don’t even sell tires!
