If you know me than you know I eat cereal and oatmeal (both!) every single day. Really. (creature of habit & all that!) So I’m a self proclaimed expert on the stuff. I have a few basics that I like but I try new stuff now & then.
I had a chance to try out some cereals and a variety of oatmeals courtesy of Three Sisters. (Thanks, ladies!) They sent me some of their Marshmallow Oaties, Cinnamon Sweets, as well as their dark chocolate, plain grain, and brown sugar & maple flavored oatmeals.
My kids were all over the Marshmallow Oaties, and you know why?
Because it tastes exactly like it’s junky cereal counterpart. I couldn’t believe how close in taste it was. Right down to those marshmallows that are slightly crisp, for lack of a better word. I adored these types of cereals as a kid. My mom never bought them but when I would spend the night at a friend’s house and they had Lucky Charms or something like it, I would think “Score!” and eat a bowl or two. The Marshmallow Oaties cereal does not have brightly, artificially colored marshmallows that turn your milk a funky color, that’s nice. (Blueberry, carrots, and pumpkin concentrates are used to lightly color the marshmallows) Three Sisters does strive to create a less processed product, which is appreciated.
Same goes for the Cinnamon Sweets, they taste exactly like Cinnamon Toast Crunch. My son couldn’t eat these fast enough.
I enjoyed my instant oatmeal, most of all the Plain Grain. Their oatmeal comes packed with flaxseeds (one of my favorite daily additives to many of my meals & snacks!) barley, quinoa, and natural flavors like real chocolate or dried cranberries. The oatmeal pouch doubles as a measuring cup to make it easy to grab & go on busy days or to leave in your office desk.
They offer several other cereals such as Honey Puffs, Honey Oaties, Graham Crackerz, and Sweet Wheats. You can guess what they will taste like! They are only available at Whole Foods.
Three Sisters make an effort to produce their products as greenly as possible. They purchase wind credits, as well as packaging their cereals in stayfresh resealable bags as opposed to the usual bag + a box model.
Why don’t you give Three Sisters cereals a try and find out which one your family likes best? I’m hosting a giveaway for free cereal for a month. All you have to do is leave a comment here and I will pick a winner using a random number generator. The contest will end on January 31, 2011 at midnight EST. I will then mail the winner 5 coupons for free cereal. That should cover you for about a month. Unless your family is super cereal eaters!
Three Sisters are not sponsors, endorsers, or affiliated with this giveaway.
